How to maintain your whiteness after treatment

Treatment is complete, your smile is brighter. What now? Five practical steps for results that last 12 to 24 months.

The first 48 hours — the critical phase

After treatment, the enamel is slightly more porous (normal, temporary). Avoid coloured foods and drinks: coffee, tea, red wine, tomato sauce, curry. This is when your teeth are most susceptible to new stains.

The maintenance toothpaste

A professional whitening toothpaste extends treatment results. Micro agents remove surface stains with each brushing before they set in. Remineralising actives strengthen enamel daily. The simplest and most effective whiteness maintenance.

Daily habits that help

Drink your coffee through a straw when possible. Rinse your mouth with water after tea or wine. Brush your teeth 30 minutes after meals (not immediately — let the enamel remineralise first).

Occasional touch-ups

After several months, if you notice slight yellowing, your dentist may suggest a quick touch-up — a few days of tray wear generally restores the initial radiance. Much simpler and quicker than a full treatment.

How long results last

With proper maintenance, professional whitening results last 12 to 24 months on average. This depends on diet, tobacco use, and oral hygiene. Your dentist is best placed for a personalised estimate.
